Community Comments

Alex Eshaghian:

“"People often overgeneralize priming structure versus blitzing structure. But the score and entire position must be taken into account. This is a prototypical safe vs bold position. White has a 3 point board versus a 1 point board. And red has two blots in her board. And white has an anchor. This makes white a huge favorite in a hitting exchange. If white gets hit, he may have a chance to send another checker back to increase gammons. Blitzing with a closeout also wins a lot of gammons. In particular, gammons are more valuable on a 2 cube at 5a 5a than for money as a doubled gammon gets you to 1a 5a C. If you move red's checker from her 2 to her 4 (making her 4 point) 13/2 is indicated. But here you can be aggressive with 13/7 8/3*.”

Rolf Schreuder:

“13/7 8/3 cause villain has 2 blots.”

Paul Weaver:

“20/14 20/15

You get lotsa shots if he rolls 61 62 64 65.

You get three builders for your 9pt.

I believe this play gives Oppt very few numbers, if any, that hit both blots while cleaning up the mess in Oppt’s home board.”
